Clarke Mosquito Reminder
Posted Wednesday, September 6, 2023
The risk of West Nile Virus is high. The DuPage County Health Department recommends that residents take personal protection measures to minimize mosquito bites including:
- Drain: Drain those items that collect standing water around your home, yard or business. Scrub and refill pet water dishes and bird baths regularly.
- Defend: Use an EPA registered mosquito repellent, when outdoors and reapply according to directions.
- Dress: Wear long pants, long sleeves, and closed-toe shoes when outside to cover the skin.
- Dawn & Dusk: Wear repellent outdoors during these prime times for mosquito activity.
Residents are urged to examine their property and eliminate any items that can hold water, particularly smaller items that may be easily overlooked. Remember, if it can hold water, it can breed mosquitoes. Residents can report potential mosquito breeding areas (water standing for 3 day) in their neighborhoods on the Clarke Residential Portal at www.clarkeportal.com/hotline.
